Description

You have a drum bus sounding polite. You pull up Solid Bus Comp. A few dB of gain reduction tightens the low end without making a fuss. That is how this bundle earns its place — it gives you controls that do something audible the moment you move them, no deep menu diving required.

• Solid Mix Series — EQ, bus compression and dynamics that aim for clean, desk-style shaping. The Bus Comp adds glue without clouding the transients.
• Vintage Compressors — three different flavours of grab and release, from gentle levelling to obvious pump.
• Crush Pack — digital distortion, bit reduction and rough textures. Useful for turning a sterile synth line into something with grit.
• Mod Pack — Choral, Flair and Phasis cover chorus, flanging and phasing. The feedback knobs let you push them into metallic, whistling territory.
• Premium Tube Series — saturation and gentle warming that responds to how hard you drive the input.
• Reverb Classics — two algorithmic reverbs, one plate-like and one hall-like, both with a straightforward set of decay and filter controls.

Everything stays on the surface — a handful of modelled knobs per plug-in. That makes it quick to dial in a sound, which is what you want when a mix is moving.

Little things that save time

Most of these plug-ins let you double-click a knob to type a value. It is not advertised, but it is faster than dragging a fader when you know exactly where you want it. Hold Shift while dragging for fine adjustments — the resolution tightens and a quarter-turn covers a much smaller range.

The output-gain slider on Crush Pack plug-ins runs a soft clipper before the final stage. Drive it gently and you get a kind of tape-style saturation that never appears in the manual. It is worth experimenting with Bite set to mild crush and the output pushed a few dB, then rolling back the mix knob to blend in just the harmonics.

A few plug-ins remember their last-used state even when you close and reopen a project without saving a preset. Raum does this reliably; open it again and the decay setting is right where you left it. It helps when you are auditioning reverbs across several tracks and do not want to commit yet.

Soundtoys chases analogue colour, Komplete FX spreads wider

It is not trying to compete with an everything-in-one channel strip. Compare it to Soundtoys 5 and you see the difference immediately. Soundtoys gives you deeply characterful modulation and saturation with a strong analogue-modelling flavour. Komplete FX Bundle spreads itself thinner: more categories, more bread-and-butter tools, less overt personality per plug-in. Solid EQ is a workhorse; you would not say it has a "vibe."

Against FabFilter Total Bundle, the contrast is sharper. FabFilter offers surgical precision — spectrum analysers built into the EQ, mid-side processing everywhere, and a visual feedback system that tells you exactly what the compressor is doing. Komplete FX Bundle keeps the graphics minimal. You rely on your ears faster, which is either liberating or limiting depending on your working style.

Where it lands is somewhere between those two: broader than Soundtoys in utility, less analytical than FabFilter, and fast to operate once you learn the few quirks each plug-in hides. If you already own a character-reverb or a go-to compressor, this bundle fills the gaps around it without duplicating what you have.

Preset-switching CPU spikes now settle faster

The labelling was updated to match the rest of Native Instruments' current catalogue. No new plug-ins were added. What did shift was stability — several plug-ins that could spike CPU when switching presets during playback now settle more gracefully. In practice that means you can browse through Replika XT delay models mid-session without the transport stuttering.

Loading times improved slightly on Apple Silicon Macs. Opening an instance of Raum or Solid Bus Comp went from a tiny but noticeable pause to nearly instant. It is the kind of change you stop noticing after a week, but it makes a session feel less interrupted.

The patch installer also cleaned up a handful of edge-case graphics glitches that appeared on newer macOS builds, particularly when resizing plug-in windows. Nothing functional changed, but the interface redraws without flickering now.
