If a question is about whether a program does something specific or how to fix a quirk, the best place to ask is in the comments under that program’s page. I read every comment, and so do other users who might already know the answer. A question asked there helps everyone. An email is fine if the matter is private or not tied to a single program, but for troubleshooting, the comments usually get you a faster and broader set of replies.
Before you email
I can only answer a message if I know exactly what you are looking at. Please include these details:
- App name and version — the version number shown on its AppStorent page, not whatever your copy reports (they sometimes differ).
- Your macOS version and whether your Mac runs Apple silicon or an Intel processor.
- For broken links: the exact page address where you clicked the link, and which download button it was, if there are several.
- For wrong version numbers: a screenshot or a link to the developer’s own release notes so I can confirm quickly.
Broken downloads and wrong versions
These are the two reports I act on fastest because they affect every reader. If a download link returns a 404, or the version I list is not the one the developer has published, tell me. I keep older builds listed deliberately for people on older versions of macOS, so check the small print on the page before reporting a version as out of date — the latest release is always marked clearly, with earlier ones noted below it.
When you will hear back
I answer messages in batches, usually within a couple of working days. Sometimes it takes longer if I am verifying a report with a developer or testing a download across several machines. I do not promise a fixed turnaround. If a broken link or a wrong version number is blocking you from working, say so in the subject line and I will treat it as a priority.
Write to me at [email protected]. I read every message, even if I cannot always reply to each one individually.
A note on comments
Every comment is moderated before it appears on the site. When you submit one, you will see it marked “awaiting moderation” under your account. Once I have reviewed it, it goes live. I do this to keep the conversation on-topic and free of noise. Favourites and update notifications are part of your free account — no newsletter, no marketing mail, just a quiet alert on the site when a program you saved gets a new build.
