Terms of service
These terms apply when you use AppStorent. I keep them simple, but please read them before you make an account or post a comment. A short list first, followed by the detail.
The short version
- I can update these terms at any time. New terms apply from the moment they go live.
- I moderate every comment. I can decline or remove one without discussion.
- This catalogue is a collection of personal notes. I do not guarantee that any program will run on your Mac.
- Comments must stay civil, legal and on-topic. No abuse, no private data, no spam, no impersonation.
- Third-party software, names and links belong to their owners. The developer supports the app, not me.
- You can contact me about these terms at [email protected].
Changes to the terms
I may change these terms when the site evolves. The latest version is always here. Using the site after a change means you accept the new terms. If a change does not work for you, stop using the site and ask me to delete your account.
Moderation
Every comment is read by a human before it appears. The author sees their own comment straight away, marked “awaiting moderation”. I can decline or remove a comment for any reason, and I do not enter into debate about moderation decisions. This keeps the site useful for everyone.
The catalogue: what it is and what it is not
AppStorent is one person’s shortlist of Mac software that behaves. I built it from eight years of keeping studio Macs running for students who just wanted to get their work done. The notes on each page—version, file size, compatibility, install tips—are accurate to the best of my knowledge at the time of writing. They are not a guarantee that a program will work on your specific Mac, with your specific combination of hardware, macOS version and other installed software. Older builds stay listed for older machines, but I cannot promise they will run. Test before you rely on anything.
Comment rules
Keep things useful. When you post a comment, you agree that you will not:
- abuse, threaten or harass others
- share someone else’s private data (address, phone number, email, anything similar)
- post spam, adverts, or links to malware or suspicious downloads
- pretend to be someone you are not, including a developer whose app is listed
Comments that break these rules will be declined or removed. Accounts used to break them may be suspended quietly.
Third-party software and links
All programs in the catalogue are third-party products. Their names, logos and trademarks belong to their respective owners. Listing them here does not imply endorsement from the developer, nor does it create a partnership. When you download or buy a program, your relationship is with the developer—installation, support, refunds, updates and licence questions are between you and them. I link to official sites where I can, but I am not responsible for content on other people’s servers.
