BlazBlue Entropy Effect for macOS
Description
Cross-save and multiplayer lobby arrive on Mac
This first release brings cross-platform save migration and an online multiplayer lobby. You can pick up your progress on Mac and find a match without leaving the game.
Grafting elemental skills onto a single moveset
- You enjoy stringing combos together on instinct. The core loop hands you a character like Ragna the Bloodedge or Noel Vermillion and pushes you through runs where you graft skills from different elements onto a single moveset. The joy is in the chaos of a build that shouldn't work but does.
- You don't mind starting over. A roguelike means death resets the run. Progress lives in unlocks and your own muscle memory. If losing twenty minutes of build experimentation stings, you'll bounce off.
- You're here for the system, not the story. The BlazBlue lore is present but thin. The satisfaction comes from understanding how a lightning buff interacts with a dash attack, not from cutscenes.
Discord stays visible on a second desktop
The game plays nicely in a window, so keeping Discord visible on a second desktop for lobby chat is straightforward. Mission Control swipe gestures don't interfere with combat inputs — the game grabs the keyboard properly. If you use a controller, macOS recognises most Bluetooth gamepads without extra software. I've seen it work with a DualSense and an 8BitDo pad straight out of the box.
Cross-platform saves sync through the game's own servers, not iCloud. That means you don't need to fiddle with iCloud Drive settings, but it also means you'll want a steady connection when you switch between machines.
Prodding the game to recognise your controller
A few things trip people up early on.
- Controller not responding on first launch. The game defaults to keyboard. Open Settings with the mouse, switch the input device to controller, then back out. That usually prods it into recognising the pad. If not, a quick unplug and reconnect while the game is running sorts it.
- Screen tearing on an external display. Disable Variable Refresh Rate in the graphics menu. Some monitors advertise VRR but deliver stutter in 2D titles. Locking to 60 Hz clears it up.
- Multiplayer lobby shows zero rooms. The lobby list refreshes on a short timer. Wait ten seconds. Still empty? Check that macOS hasn't blocked incoming connections — look under Privacy & Security in System Settings and make sure the game is allowed. A handful of users running a BlazBlue Entropy Effect Mac torrent have hit this after firewall resets, and the fix is the same.
- Save migration stalls. The first sync after installing on a second Mac can sit at "connecting" for a minute or two. Don't force-quit. Let it finish. If it fails twice, restart the game on the original machine and let it do one full run — that pushes a fresh snapshot to the server.
Interface languages are English, Simplified Chinese and Japanese. It runs on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.
Requirements
- Apple Silicon or Intel 64-bit Mac
