macOS features that help it run smoothly

The game runs as a standalone app and doesn't hook into other software. That's fine — it's a single-player story, not a tool. But a couple of macOS features are worth mentioning if you want things to run smoothly.

Mission Control and Hot Corners can yank you out of the action when a fight gets frantic. If you've set a corner to show the desktop, a panicked mouse flick will minimise Arkham City mid-combo. Disable those before you start a session. The same goes for notifications — turn on Do Not Disturb unless you enjoy getting iMessage pings while Catwoman is clinging to a ceiling.

Spaces users should pin the game to its own desktop. Switching spaces with a trackpad swipe during a predator encounter works, technically, but Batman will be unconscious by the time you swipe back.

Catwoman episodes woven into the main story from the start

The original release drip-fed content over months. This edition bundles it all from the start, which changes the rhythm of a first playthrough. You're not waiting for Catwoman episodes to unlock — they're woven in from the beginning, switching perspective between her and Batman at set story points.

Having Robin and Nightwing available in challenge maps right away means you can learn their combat timing alongside Batman's, rather than revisiting the mode later. The twelve skins are cosmetic, but a few — like the Batman Beyond suit — subtly shift how the character feels in motion, even if the stats don't change.

The Russian-language build requires a separate set of instructions to enable, so don't expect it to appear in the in-game menu without following those steps first.

Why quickfire gadgets keep your combos from falling apart

The most common one is ignoring the quickfire gadgets. New players often pause fights to aim batarangs manually, which gets you punched. The quickfire buttons let you throw a batarang or deploy the smoke grenade mid-combo without breaking flow. Learn those inputs early.

Another is treating Catwoman's sections like Batman's. She doesn't have a cape, so gliding isn't an option. Beginners try to cross rooftops the same way and end up on the pavement. Her whip and ceiling climbing are the traversal tools — use them instead of looking for grapple points that don't exist.

People also hoard upgrade points for the "perfect" build. Don't. The game is generous with XP, and the combat armour upgrade makes a tangible difference in the later brawls. Spend points as you earn them and you'll struggle less when the enemy mixes in armoured thugs and shield carriers.

Finally, skipping the AR training missions. They're optional, but the advanced glide challenges teach you how to stay airborne longer than the tutorial ever explains. If you're hunting for every Riddler trophy — or just a mac torrent game from the era that respects your time — those skills pay off across the whole map.
