Description

Players who enjoy methodical, open-ended work simulations get the most from it. People who unwind with spreadsheets and checklists. It's a game about process, not explosions.

A typical session starts with a look at the calendar and crop prices. You walk to the tractor shed, pick a machine from over 400 licensed tools, and attach the right implement for the job. Ploughing a field in a CLAAS tractor takes real time. The ground changes visibly as you work row by row. You manage the throttle, watch for rocks, and try to keep your lines straight.

Once the wheat is ready, you swap the plough for a combine harvester. A grain trailer runs alongside, driven by an AI helper or a friend in co-op multiplayer. You haul the load to a sell point or store it in your silo for a better price later. In between harvests, there are animals to feed, forests to plant, and production chains to set up. Grain becomes flour, which becomes bread.

A bad decision sticks. If you miss a fertilising window or let your cows run out of straw, the yield drops. The game doesn't punish you with a game-over screen. It just shows you a thinner profit margin at the end of the season, which is worse in its own quiet way.

A small livestock farm in autumn

A player who runs a compact cattle operation in Haut-Beyleron knows October is the pressure point. Grass growth slows, the maize needs chopping for silage, and the cows are eating through straw faster than expected. The spreadsheet says you need 120,000 litres of silage to get the herd through winter. You have 80,000.

Two fields of maize are ready. You attach a forage harvester to your Fendt and spend an hour cutting, blowing the chaff into a trailer running alongside. The silage bunker fills slowly. Every load gets compacted with a wheel loader — the new Volvo 120H is useful here. By dusk in-game, the bunker is covered and fermenting. The pressure eases. A few days later you open it, and the silage is ready.

From wheat to bread: one production chain

The grain mill on Elmcreek isn't fancy, but it turns a decent profit if you supply it steadily. Here's how one player handles it start to finish.

  1. Check the calendar for the wheat harvest window. June or July, depending on when you planted.
  2. Take a John Deere combine to the wheat field. Run with a grain header and keep an auger wagon nearby so you don't have to stop cutting.
  3. Haul the harvested wheat straight to the grain mill sell point. Do not store it in a silo — the mill accepts it directly and the price is stable.
  4. While the mill processes, plant a second field of wheat for the next cycle. Use a seeder that also fertilises to save a pass.
  5. Collect the flour the mill produces. Drive it to the bakery. If you already own the bakery, the flour becomes bread automatically; the profit margin more than doubles compared to selling raw wheat.
  6. Repeat the loop. Two wheat harvests a year, steady flour deliveries, and a bakery that never sits idle.

The chain is simple, but the rhythm is satisfying. One person can run it alone, though a co-op friend hauling grain lets you keep the combine moving without stopping.
