Description

Compatibility comes first. This edition runs on Intel-based Macs with a 64-bit processor. If you are on Apple Silicon, check the install notes — x86 translation is not guaranteed.

You play as Garrett, a master thief creeping through The City. It's a gothic metropolis of dark alleys, rooftops and concealed vaults. The single-player campaign sends you through story missions, but the box holds more than the main plot. You also get The Bank Heist mission and The Forsaken challenge map.

The booster packs tweak the rules. Ghost rewards you for leaving no trace. Predator pushes a more aggressive, arrow-based approach. Opportunist sits somewhere between the two, letting you scavenge and improvise. These are separate modes, not just difficulty sliders.

On the bonus side, a digital art book, soundtrack and comic book round out the package. They sit in the game folder once installed — no separate downloads. Worth it if you want the complete City experience in one hit.

Tap R to quicksave, hold Shift to creep

A few shortcuts save time once you know they exist. Tap R to quicksave without opening a menu — handy before a tricky lock pick. Holding Shift while moving slows Garrett to a creep, quieter than the default walk. The game never mentions either.

Lock picks work faster if you nudge the mouse gently rather than jerking it. The sweet spot is small, but the mechanism becomes muscle memory after a few doors. You can also shoot rope arrows into wooden beams the game does not highlight as climbable. Look for grain, not glow.

When a guard spots you, the screen darkens around the edges a split second before the alert triggers. That flicker is your window to break line of sight. Most players panic and run. Slip sideways into a shadow instead.

Crouched behind a pillar, counting a lantern’s swing

You launch the game and load a save halfway through The Bank Heist. Garrett crouches behind a marble pillar, the vault door still locked. A guard patrols the corridor ahead, his lantern swinging in a rhythm you have been counting for two minutes.

You wait for the lantern to dip, then creep forward. The floor is stone — noisy — so you hold Shift and cross in half-speed. At the vault panel, you draw a wire cutters and start the lock. Three pins. The first clicks quickly. The second sticks. A footstep echoes behind you. You freeze, hands still on the picks. The guard mutters and turns the other way.

The third pin gives. The vault door groans open. Inside: a painting, a stack of coin, and a document that updates your objective. You pocket everything, then spot a ventilation grate above — no prompt, but the grate bars look wide enough. A rope arrow lodges in the wooden frame. One climb later, you are crawling toward an exit the level designer left for the nosy ones.

Before quitting, you switch to The Forsaken challenge map for a quick score run. Ghost booster is active, so detection means restart. Fifteen minutes of tight corner work later, you finish with zero alerts and remember why the R quicksave key earned its place. The whole session took forty minutes, and most of it was silence.
