Description

Slow-motion kills. That's the switch you flick when a rocket sends a soldier cartwheeling across the map in a shower of rigid-body limbs. SteelRaven7 started all this as an experiment with ragdolls and AI back in 2017, and that DNA still shows in every firefight.

You drop into a map as a blue or red team grunt and capture flags while the other side tries to shoot you. The number of fighters scales only to what your computer can handle. Infantry squads, jeeps, helicopters and patrol boats all bumble around with zero scripted behaviour, which means every round plays out differently.

Twenty-minute rampages with bouncy vehicle physics

  • Quick, no-plot sessions where you just want to shoot things for twenty minutes
  • Players who enjoy ridiculous physics more than serious military simulation
  • Low-pressure practice with vehicles — tanks, planes, and boats handle simply

Teammates will drive jeeps off cliffs

  • No multiplayer — the blue team is always AI, for better or worse
  • Friendly AI will occasionally drive a jeep straight off a cliff
  • Graphics are deliberately blocky and low-poly, not a showcase title

Widen the letterbox view before spawning

Open the options before you even spawn. Three things make an immediate difference.

Field of view. The default is set narrow, around 60, which makes close-quarters flag rooms feel like looking through a letterbox. Push it to 80 or 90. You will spot flanking reds earlier and your sense of speed in vehicles improves.

Bot count. The slider defaults to something conservative. Crank it up until the frame rate dips, then back off by ten. More bodies on the field means objectives actually get contested instead of turning into a walking simulator between empty checkpoints.

Slow-motion key. It is bound to something you will never reach mid-fight. Rebind it to a mouse thumb button or the middle click. Tapping it the moment a grenade pops or a jeep flips overhead is the whole point of the ragdoll engine.

That quiet flag on the minimap is a trap

New players treat this like a traditional shooter and get punished. The AI is dumb in specific ways and smart in others.

Ignoring the minimap. Red dots cluster around contested flags. If you sprint toward a quiet-looking capture point without checking, you will round a corner into six enemies who were all staring at the same doorway. Glance at the corner of the screen every few seconds.

Hoarding vehicles at spawn. Grabbing a helicopter and flying solo toward the enemy base looks cool until you eat a rocket ten seconds later. Vehicles work best when you wait a few seconds for AI teammates to pile into the passenger seats. A full jeep of blues arriving at a flag flips it faster than you alone ever will.

Standing still to aim. The bots lead their shots. If you stop moving, you die. Strafe while firing, even with a sniper rifle, and never stay on the same rooftop for more than two kills. The AI remembers where you were.

FAQ

Does Ravenfield work on both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs?

Yes. The build runs on both architectures, so older Intel machines and newer M-series chips are supported.

Can you control vehicles in the game?

Yes. Infantry, ground vehicles, aircraft and water vehicles are all included and you can jump into any of them during a match.

Is there a multiplayer mode?

No. Ravenfield is a single-player game where both your teammates and the enemy team are controlled by the AI.
