The Ultimate edition weaves the Phantom Liberty spy plot right into the map, so a drive through Dogtown can turn into a firefight with Barghest soldiers. The auto-drive behaviour in patch 2.31a keeps your ride feeling genuine, overtaking blockers instead of sitting behind them. It's the small habits that stick: checking your stash wall for iconic weapons, reading shards you looted three missions ago, standing on a megabuilding ledge just to watch the AVs drift past.

First days in Night City

Don't try to clear Watson before the heist. The game opens up properly once the title card drops, and some gigs and scanner jobs are gated behind later story beats anyway. Spend your first few hours following the main thread until you've paid your debt to Viktor the ripperdoc. That's when the city stops nudging you along.

Pay him back as soon as you can scrape the eddies together. Until then you're walking around with a basic operating system and no real cyberdeck options. A few side gigs for Regina in Watson will cover it without pulling you too far off track.

Pick up the free iconic pistol from Wilson's shooting contest in Megabuilding H10. You'll miss it if you don't stop by before the heist. It's not game-breaking, but it'll carry you through the next six or seven hours without spending a single eddie on hardware.

Read every shard you pick up for the first few missions. Some unlock optional dialogue with fixers or reveal stash locations. The writing on incidental data shards is frequently better than it has any right to be.

The Apple silicon build isn’t a wrapper

Is it a native Mac port or a wrapper? It's a proper Apple silicon build, not a compatibility layer. CD PROJEKT RED worked directly with Apple on the port. You'll spot MetalFX upscaling in the graphics settings, and the interface feels like it was made for the platform, not translated from a PC launcher.

How's the frame rate on a Mac? That depends on your chip and your tolerance. On an M4 with 16 GB of unified memory, expect something in the mid-30s to low-40s on default settings in busy districts. You can coax it higher by dialling crowd density and screen-space reflections down. It's playable, it's not a slideshow, but it's not a locked 60 fps either.
